Mmabana Arts and Culture and Sport Foundation - Entity Background
Mmabana Foundation operates as a government entity, established through Act No. 7 of 2000 under Government Gazette 404. Recognized as a Schedule 3c entity as per the Public Finance Management Act, 1999, the foundation serves both as an academy of the arts and a production house. In its capacity as an academy, Mmabana provides instruction in music, drama, dance, sports, creative arts, and artistic sports. As a production house, it serves as a platform for professional artists to showcase their talents in various domains, including music, drama, dance, sports, and artistic exhibitions. The foundation plays a pivotal role in implementing government strategies, particularly in promoting art and culture, exemplified through projects such as the Taung Cultural Calabash, conceptualized and executed on behalf of the government to align with its priorities.
